Memorial Letter from Owen Roane to Charlie Beck

Dear Charlie,

This is a letter I should have written to you long ago. When I was tapped to serve as President of the 100th Bomb Group Association, you were there as Vice President for Membership to support me, and you have continued to do a wonderful job in that all important position. You have created a way of bringing the bunch back together that has brought praise from individuals that were away from our fellowship much too long. Many of our friends were not aware of the Hundredth Bomb Group Association until you found them.

You accompanied Paul (Paul West) and me on numerous trips to search out the history of the members of our group, and developed a wonderful video tape recording the Fort Worth Reunion. We traveled over ten thousand miles during those ventures. You were a most pleasant traveling companion, and you spent unmatched energy in helping to record the stories of valor and dedication of the men of the “Bloody Hundredth.” We all will miss you greatly.

Whenever I have the opportunity to be with you again, I am sure you will be correcting that most wonderful roster of all for Saint Peter.

Until we meet again,
Cowboy Roane
