Note to Harry Crosby from Jim Brown:

Harry:
During out Phase training in the U.S., Paul Warner was the Navigator on the Biddick crew. However, at Bangor, Maine, on our way overseas, Warner became ill and was replaced. The name of his replacement is unknown.

Five Headquarters B-17s flew overseas and four of them had ATC Navigators. The 5th aircraft was navigated by Omar Gonzales and piloted by Col. Howard Turner. Wouldn't it be nice if we could get those living together for a photograph at St. Louis.

Until I prepared this list I had not realized that Bassett, Gospodar, Strout, Bull & Crosby were the only ones of the 36 navigators who were not casualties in WW II. Gonzales was a POW. 14 percent survived.
