Flak Filled Skies---As U. S. Eighth
Air Force B-17 Flying Fortresses invade Germany to attack oil
targets at Merseburg, November 30th, hundreds of German
anti-aircraft guns fill the skies with flak. Contrails
streaming behind, a Fortress formation is seen surrounded by smudgy
bursts, just below the horizon line. The white cloud is all
that remains of a Fortress which was hit by flak, enroute to the
target. |
