This picture was sent to the mother of
Roy Lomanno immediately after he was shot down and before she knew
he was a POW. The inscription on back reads, "This is a
memento of the 100th Bomb Gr. 'BI Sacrament Chapel' where Roy
received holy Communion before each of his Combat Missions"

"GLORY BOUND" 43-38523 EP-F crashed,
4 January 1945, at
Thorpe Abbotts after a 3 1/2 hour training flight. Note:
the aircraft is still burning and the ground crew is already to tow
it away. Just four days earlier on 31 December 1944, the
aircraft had suffered flak damage and returned safely. The
100th BG lost 12 aircraft on that mission. Photo
